WUT: ENHANCE– a joint European campus

发布时间:2020-06-24

On February 26, 2020, the ENHANCE consortium of 7 technical universities: the Warsaw University of Technology, the Technical University of Berlin, RTWH in Aachen, Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, the Polytechnic University of Milan and the Polytechnic University of Valencia submitted an application under the European Commission’s European Universities initiative.

Meeting

Striving to achieve the status of high-class research units, introducing innovative educational methods on a wide scale, making the offer more flexible for students, PhD students, academic and administrative staff, and reducing bureaucratic barriers — these are the goals adopted by the universities cooperating in the consortium. The Warsaw University of Technology joined the consortium on November 21, 2019, by signing the agreement in Milan.

The plan assumes the use of three-year funding to create a system which will facilitate the mobility of the academic community at all consortium universities. This means, among others, helping students to choose study programs from the offer of each partner university with a guarantee of mutual recognition of learning outcomes.

Students will be able to take advantage of online courses prepared by partner universities, create international project groups cooperating online, as well as participate in workshops and summer schools.

“Participation in the ENHANCE consortium is an opportunity for the Warsaw University of Technology to cooperate with partner universities in the field of innovative teaching methods, joint solution of scientific and technological problems and implementation of projects focused on making universities more international”, said Professor Jan Szmidt, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology.

An important element of the consortium’s strategy is the emphasis on developing critical thinking skills, as well as the application of knowledge and modern technologies with a view to the benefits which they can bring to societies.

The planned activities of the consortium are closely linked to the plan for the implementation of the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” project at the Warsaw University of Technology.
