Virtual Signing Ceremony between TCU and UmU

On November 30th, the signing ceremony on Memorandum of Understanding was held online between Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) and Umeå University (UmU) of Sweden. TCU President LI Zhongxian, Vice President WANG Zhongliang met with UmU President Hans Adolfsson. Executive Director of International Cooperation Office and Dean of School of Energy and Safety Engineering from TCU, Deans of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology and Department of Applied Physics and Electronics from UmU attended the meeting and witnessed the virtual signing ceremony.

President Adolfsson firstly introduced UmU and emphasized that academic exchange may go beyond borders and the pandemic shall not stop international cooperation. He hoped two universities could play the role as educational institutions and jointly provide academic support to tackle social challenges.

President LI Zhongxian briefly introduced TCU. He underlined UmU is the first partner that TCU had established in Sweden, and expected the two universities could carry out extensive, in-depth, and achieve win-win cooperation in the fields of cultural exchanges between China and Sweden.

Vice President WANG Zhongliang expressed his wish that the two universities could explore more cooperation modes on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding and promote the implementation of the joint coorperation in the near future. Later on, the two universities held the virtual signing ceremony and representatives from relevant office and schools discussed future working plan and finally reached consensus.

Founded in 1965, UmU is the fifth oldest comprehensive university of Sweden. It is located in Umeå, capital city of Västerbottens län in north central part of Sweden. Umeå Institute of Design ranks first in the Red Dot Design Rankings among the universities in Americas and Europe. The “Red Dot Award” is also commonly known as the “Oscar” in the field of industrial design.
