On October 29, 2020, Daejeon University held a ceremony to commemorate its 40th anniversary

On October 29, 2020, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of Daejeon University at the 30th Anniversary Hall.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this ceremony was only attended by education administrators represented by President Lee Jong Seo and the award winners. At the ceremony, Chairman of the board presented the “Beautiful Hye Hwa People Award”, the “Award for Seniority”, and the President honored the winners of the “Academic Research Award”, “Outstanding Teaching Award”, and “Contribution Award”.

In his speech, President Lee Jong Seo said at the ceremony, “In 1980, Daejeon College was only with five disciplines and 260 faculty members and students. In eight years, it grew into a comprehensive university, with its outreach to the Korean Medicine Hospital now. Over 10,000 teachers and students are devoted to teaching and research on Yong Un Campus, making remarkable achievements. Despite some discouragement, we have made constant progress, especially in improving education quality, and formed a system of high education quality through restless efforts. However, the achievements we gained from the 40-year efforts from generation to generation cannot be the guarantee for our future development. The growth of our society is more rapid than ever before, so we must make concerted efforts to explore the uncharted fields and to make Daejeon University a new standard for the universities in the future.”

Seo Jun Won, the legal person of Daejeon University and Chairman of the board of Hye Hwa College, also delivered a speech. He said in the speech, “During the past ten years, we have gained notable success in various fields, which brings a greater reputation for us. For this reason, I believe that the 40th anniversary is an important turning point in the development of Daejeon University. In the following ten years, it’s necessary to aim higher based on past achievements. If all of our faculty members and students can work hand in hand for the development of Daejeon University, no matter what difficulties we may encounter, we will never waver or fear setbacks. Instead, with joint effort, we will surely build Daejeon University a prominent private university in its forties.
