Two leading scientists from Justus Liebig University of Giessen, Germany, met with the Rector of Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University (KATRU), Professor Kanat Maratovich Tireuov, on Thursday 07 December at the Rector’s office.

Professor Axel Wehrend, the Head of the Veterinary Clinic of Reproductive Medicine and Neonatology, and Professor Carlos Hermosilla, the Academic Director of the Institute of Parasitology are currently visiting KATRU where they are giving classes and workshops at the University’s Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Technologies.

During the meeting, KATRU Rector Professor Tireuov appreciated the fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboration between KATRU and the University of Giessen that has been going on since 2005. The guests informed the Rector about their previous work with KATRU and the current activities at the University.

Professor Tireuov briefed the visiting scientists about KATRU’s new developmental plans and the future directions of the University’s growth and development. He emphasized that enhancing collaborations with German institutions is a top priority for KATRU. He said that KATRU would play a leading role in the implementation of the pledges and agreements that were made and signed between the two governments in the fields of education and agriculture during the visit of the German President to Kazakhstan in June 2023.

KATRU plans to open the Kazakh-German International Center of Education and Research at its premises.

Scientists from Germany held several meetings with the teaching staff, doctoral students, and master's students of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Technologies.
