Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University signed memorandum of understanding with the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

KFU was represented by First Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Director of the Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications Mikhail Shchelkunov, Dean of the Faculty of Law Lilia Bakulina, Deputy Director for International Affairs of the Institute of International Relations Albina Imamutdinova, Deputy Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Law Rustem Davletgildeev, and others.

The UCASS delegation comprise Chief Expert of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Sino-Russia Relations Wang Weiguang, President Zhang Zhengwen, Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Sino-Russia Relations Li Yongquan, and others.

Vice-Rector Tayursky noted, “The general line of development of scientific and educational cooperation between our countries was reflected in the joint statement on the plan for the development of key areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation until 2030, which was made at the highest level, as part of the official visit of the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, to Moscow in March 2023.”

He also mentioned the first ROSTKI Russia-China Forum held in November 2023, of which KFU was an active participant.

There are currently 2,004 Chinese students at KFU, and the country is among the top five senders of international students to our university.

Among KFU’s thirty partners in China are Beijing Normal University, Sichuan University, Shenzhen University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and others. A joint master’s program in petroleum engineering was launched this year with East China Petroleum University (UPC). Dr Tayursky offered to start negotiations for a joing program in sociology.

“The Naberezhnye Chelny Institute of KFU successfully operates a joint training center created in partnership with the Chinese company HAIER. A landmark event was the opening of the China-Russia Center for the Study of Leninism jointly with the School of Marxism of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in 2020. And, of course, our special pride is the Confucius Institute of KFU, whose long-standing activities contribute to the development of public diplomacy and the growing mutual interest in language, history and culture between the peoples of our countries, including young people,” listed the First Vice-Rector.

The guests toured the museums of the Main Building and joined a discussion on the new results of Marxist theory in the Russian academia and their significance for China. The contributors were Mikhail Shchelkunov (On the Creative Implementation of Marxism-Leninism), Professor Dmitry Martynov (Marxism and Historical Science at Kazan University), and Wang Weiguang.
