A memorandum of understanding was signed between the universities in 2025, and the meeting discussed the implementation of said agreement.
The guests of Kazan Federal University were Duan Wusheng, Head of the International Office of Langfang Branch, and his deputy Shi Guanfang. Kazan University was represented at the meeting by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Director of the International Office Olga Vershinina, and International Cooperation Officer of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Yury Nurmeev. The guests were accompanied by employees of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.
The Vice-Rector introduced KFU, noting that there are currently over 2,000 Chinese students of its total student body of 55,000. He shed light on the University’s history and added that it’s among the top five in Russia in many subject areas, including petroleum industry, biology, geography, pedagogical education, and chemistry.
“KFU hosts major events, for example, events related to the BRICS summit in Kazan. We organized them together with Chinese partners. In addition, we have a practice of implementing joint educational programs, scientific projects, and academic mobility programs. Our cooperation with China is multifaceted,” noted the Vice-Rector. “We are glad that your university has a contact with the Institute of Philology. I am sure that new proposals will be developed, which we will certainly try to support in order to continue and strengthen the cooperation.”
Duan Wusheng recalled that last year Russia and China celebrated 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, in this regard, he said, it is important that cooperation between the countries be productive in the future.
“Kazan Federal University is outstanding and famous not only within the country, but already at the world level,” the guest emphasized.
The visit continued with a visit to the Institute of Philology.
