Bambang stated that the NTU delegations represented by an Associate Professor from the School of Materials Science & Engineering, Assoc Prof Lydia Wong, and Prof Madhavi Srinivasan visited ITS for a site visit in order to follow up the joint project.

“The main purpose of visiting ITS conducted by NTU is to review ITS potential, facilities, and readiness which will later be involved in implementing this large project,” said Bambang.

According to Bambang, this visit becomes an honored for ITS because it can be used as a forum to show the existence of the campus in the international level. “Later on, the form of cooperation with NTU will be in the form of joint research, researcher exchange, joint supervision, joint publication, until student exchange,” explained the lecturer from the Mechanical Engineering Department when the visit finished.

NTU’s first visit to ITS began with a survey of several locations from the INSPIRASI project to be developed in Surabaya. The facilities that will be the target of Research and Education Hub collaboration are some researches related to renewable energy, circular economy, smart cities, and eco campus.

“This collaboration will be last for five years, but we hope this project can continue on the following years,” added the alumni of the Mechanical Engineering ITS.

Besides, there was also an open meeting with directors of innovation and ITS ITS research group. A light discussion about what kind of research will be conducted, budget plans, and problems that are likely to be encountered during the implementation of this project were directly discussed with those delegations.

“ITS will prepare for a various needs that will support this upcoming research, one of them is an on-progress proposal,” Bambang ensured.

Bambang explained that the appointment of ITS as one of the four significant PTNs chosen by the government as an initial step in this INSPIRASI project could not be separated from ITS involvement in producing world-class research and innovation. He expects that the collaboration, especially with international party, will be an opportunity for ITS to learn a lot from NTU.

“Hopefully, ITS can provide more benefits for the community so that its visibility will be more open,” Bambang said.
