Issues of international cooperation in scientific and educational spheres were discussed with Rector Lenar Safin and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev.
Dr Safin noted that Kazan University attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with foreign partners, including through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
“To date, the university is working closely with 5 different universities in Indonesia, including three Islamic universities. There are 48 Indonesian students studying at KFU now. They actively participate in our events organized by the OIC. Kazan University is also one of the few Russian universities where the Indonesian language is taught,” said the KFU Rector. It was mentioned that Indonesian students perform well in their studies and are very active in extracurricular life.
Asep Jahar, in turn, highly appreciated the potential of one of the leading universities in Russia, expressing hope for effective partnership and further strengthening of cultural and historical ties for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
During the meeting the parties also touched upon the topic of joint research in Islamic studies.
Lenar Safin informed the guests that a relevant center has already been established at the Institute of International Relations of KFU.
In addition, a great deal is being done to form a federal reference center for Islamic finance at KFU.
In conclusion, the two institutions signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines cooperation in a number of areas. In particular, it mentions the development and implementation of joint educational and scientific programs, academic mobility programs, advanced training, as well as joint fundamental and applied scientific research.
