On April 14, 2026, S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University hosted a meeting with a delegation from Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT, Germany). The visit focused on discussing prospects for bilateral and multilateral academic cooperation, as well as joint initiatives in agricultural education, research, and specialist training.
The foreign delegation included HSWT President Eric Veulliet, Vice President for International Affairs Carsten Lorz, and Head of the International Continuing Education Programs Division Aram Aristakesyan. Representing the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University were Chairman of the Board – Rector, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Kanat Tireuov, Member of the Board – Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Affairs Asem Abdrimova, as well as directors of the university’s specialized departments and institutes.
Opening the meeting, Rector Kanat Tireuov emphasized the importance of expanding international academic partnerships, promoting the exchange of experience, and creating broader opportunities for training highly qualified specialists for the agricultural sector.
It was also noted that cooperation between the two universities has continued for nearly 30 years. During this time, around 400 students from Kazakhstan have visited Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, reflecting the stable and productive nature of this partnership.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for implementing joint professional training programmes, advanced training, and continuing education initiatives for specialists in the agricultural sector. Particular attention was given to cooperation in research, academic exchange, and applied practice. The participants also considered potential mechanisms for attracting international funding to support the development of agricultural education and specialist training in Kazakhstan.
As part of the programme, HSWT representatives presented the key areas of their university’s work and its international continuing education projects. The meeting concluded with a discussion of future cooperation prospects, the identification of priority areas for collaboration, and practical steps aimed at strengthening the long-term partnership.
