From May 29 to June 3, a large delegation headed by Rector Andrei Rudskoi visited the People’s Republic of China. The visit resulted in the signing of large-scale contracts and agreements.
A trilateral agreement on establishing a scientific and educational center for Smart Materials and Intelligent Technologies in Hangzhou based on ETRI Research Institute was signed on May 29 by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Zhejiang Chinese-Russian Engineering Technology Research Institute and the Hangzhou City Government of Zhejiang Province.
During the negotiations, colleagues from Hangzhou supported the project proposed by SPbPU on the application of additive technologies in medicine, in particular in the field of prosthetics.
On May 30, a delegation led by the rector visited and held talks with the rector of Zhejiang Technical University (ZTU) Professor Li Xiaonian. During the first visit, the leaders defined the strategy for the development of bilateral relations, noted the importance and necessity of cooperation in the field of joint training, implementation of joint research and development with the support of bilateral international programs Russia — China. The leaders discussed the possibility of implementation of training programs for master’s degree and postgraduate students, especially noted the importance of development of engineering specialties of the real sector of the economy, with the involvement of enterprises of Russia and China in this process. It was also decided to sign this year an agreement to train master’s degree students in additive technologies with the involvement of ETRI as an industrial partner in the territory of the People’s Republic of China.
On the afternoon of May 30, 2023, a delegation from SPbPU visited its longstanding strategic partner, Zhejiang University. Andrei Rudskoi noted a steady growth in student exchanges between SPbPU and Zhejiang University, as well as an increase in joint publication activities.
The next day, the Polytechnic University delegation left for the joint Russian-Chinese ETRI’s scientific and educational center in Hangzhou, which is headed by the SPbPU graduate Wang Qingsheng. The leaders held a working meeting, outlined a strategy for the development of bilateral relations, noted the importance and necessity of cooperation in the field of joint training. They also discussed the possibility of implementing master’s degree programs on the premises of ETRI.
On the afternoon of May 31, the delegation moved to Changxing and visited the Russian-Chinese NEMTRI Center. The laboratories and production facilities at the NEMTRI center are currently at the forefront in the field of non-flammable chemical current sources. Rector of SPbPU also warmly thanked Wang Qingsheng, Director General of NEMTRI, for the active promotion of Polytechnic University in the PRC market.
On June 1, an agreement was signed between Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Zhejiang Cahngxing CHN-RUS New Energy and Material Technology Research Institute Co. ltd. and Changxing City Government of Zhejiang Province on the establishment of the Research and Education Center for Additive Technologies. The purpose of establishing the REC is to combine the capabilities, resources and intellectual potential of the parties to develop and implement advanced manufacturing technologies, as well as to train specialists in the field of advanced manufacturing technologies. On the same day, the Rector of SPbPU took part in the conference devoted to the Day of Science and Technology in Changxing and made a speech.
After his speech, Andrei Rudskoi had a working meeting with Di Jongping, Secretary of the Ruling Party of the People’s Republic of China in Changxing. During the meeting, the Secretary noted the invaluable contribution of SPbPU in the development of science and technology in Changxing. She also thanked Andrei Rudskoi for his active participation in the implementation of projects related to attracting young talents in Changxing.
On June 2, two manufacturing companies were scheduled to visit. The first was the famous Geely. This is the leading manufacturer of passenger cars in China. They discussed with the management of the factory the need for training in robotics and stamping repair technology.
The second company, SIAMC, is a leading manufacturer of products from graphite, ranging from the nuclear industry (electrodes for nuclear power plants) to small products for electrical engineering. The Russian delegation visited the materials science laboratories, where they develop new compositions and carbon composites.
