A strategic session on international activities of universities was held on 4 – 6 March as part of the festival under the moderation of Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Andrey Omelchuk.
The session included a panel discussion on practices in developing and positioning products for international students and employees. Vice Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev presented the best practices of Kazan University in attracting foreign students to the university and their further adaptation. He spoke about a service center for international students, KFU’s preparatory network programs, and adaptation programs.
The Vice-Rector emphasized the importance of adherence to migration law (which is currently changing quite often), the predictability of admission regulations, and the need to create educational products for specific target groups.
Urban and regional environment are also important, including general safety and local opportunities. Kazan and Tatarstan are an example of a favorable multicultural environment, he noted.
