Partnering with Philippine Private Universities Strengthens Untar’s International Reputation

Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. visited the Philippines to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with various Philippine private universities.

The visit was facilitated by the Higher Education Service Institution Region III (LLDikti III) and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) to the Philippines, to improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia. The group was in Manila for three days since December 11, 2023.

In addition to visiting various campuses, a cooperation agreement (MoU) was also signed with several private universities in the Philippines, namely UST Angelicum College, Mapua University, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta – Calamba Campus, and Far Eastern University at the Indonesian Embassy office. Witnessed by the Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines Lieutenant General (Ret.) Agus Widjojo and representatives of LLDikti III.

Rector of Untar especially appreciated LLDikti III and the Indonesian Embassy to the Philippines for facilitating the collaboration between Untar, Indonesian universities, and various private universities in the Philippines.

“Untar is committed to utilizing this collaboration to build mutual reputation through the exchange of lecturers, students, as well as collaboration in the Tridarma of higher education activities and acceleration of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program,” he said.

According to the Rector, this cooperation is an implementation of the tagline “Untar for Indonesia, Untar for the World”. Hopefully, this cooperation can be immediately implemented through various activities that have been mutually agreed upon to improve the reputation and excellence of the universities involved.

Meanwhile, Agus Widjojo emphasized that the Indonesian Embassy fully supports the cooperation between Indonesian and Philippine universities. “The Indonesian Embassy is committed to facilitating this cooperation and expects the MoU to be implemented soon,” he explained.

The collaboration between Untar and PTS in the Philippines involves a number of activities, including joint research, student and lecturer exchanges, and joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) implementation. In addition, this collaboration also includes international internships, dual degrees, and other programs related to Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM).

Besides Untar, the visit was also attended by leaders of Esa Unggul University, Undiknas Denpasar, Muhammadiyah University Jakarta, Multimedia Nusantara University, Al Azhar Mataram Islamic University, YARSI University, and UHAMKA.

Also participating in the visit was the Head of the Office of Cooperation and International Relations Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hugeng, S.T., M.T. (SMIEEE) and Head of Public Relations Office Dra. Paula T. Anggarina, M.M. (KJ/AW/YS/KJ)
