Official Visit of the Atatürk University to the University of Mostar

A delegation from Atatürk University from Turkey visited the University of Mostar, and on that occasion, a working meeting was held with the University of Mostar's administration, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Zoran Tomić. During the meeting, the existing agreement between the University of Mostar and Atatürk University was renewed with the aim of strengthening interuniversity cooperation and intensifying partnership activities. The signatories of the cooperation agreement were Rector Prof. Dr. Zoran Tomić from the University of Mostar and Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı from Atatürk University. In addition to the signatories, the meeting and the signing of the agreement were attended by Prof. Dr. Taşkın Öztaş, Head of the Office for International Affairs, Prof. Ali Çağlar Güllüce, Deputy Head of the Office for International Affairs, and Lecturer Pınar Uçak, responsible for the Erasmus program from the Office for International Affairs of Atatürk University. The delegation from the University of Mostar consisted of Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Sanja Bijakšić and Assistant Rector for Education, Students, and Legal Affairs Prof. Dr. Vesna Kazazić.

Through the renewed cooperation agreement between the University of Mostar and Atatürk University, in addition to the exchange of academic and non-academic staff and students, there will be a more intensive implementation of partnership activities in the form of scientific and educational development, scientific research, and the exchange of research findings. All of these efforts aim to strengthen the internationalization and development of the universities. The agreement is particularly significant due to the exchange of all publications published by both universities, the organization and implementation of joint research projects, as well as the organization and conduct of joint scientific and professional conferences.

Moreover, the agreement opens up opportunities for students, student organizations, and associations from both universities to collaborate in academic, cultural, and sports activities.

Atatürk University was founded in 1957 and consists of 23 faculties, 18 vocational schools, 8 institutes, 235 research laboratories, and 38 research centers, with a student population of 426,700. Its main campus is located in Erzurum, one of the largest cities in eastern Anatolia. Atatürk University is well-known in the eastern region for its strong international partnerships, ranging from the United States to the Balkan University Network, and it operates through the EU Erasmus+ network, facilitating student exchanges. Additionally, the university is recognized for having one of the largest teaching hospitals in Turkey, which serves as a training base for students of the Atatürk University School of Medicine. Since its establishment, Atatürk University has been a center of educational and cultural excellence in the eastern region.
