Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Hubei Province delegation visited KFU

The sides discussed cooperation between the University and Chinese partners on 6 April.

The delegation included:

Zhang Xiaomei, Head of the Foreign Affairs Office;

Chen Lu, Head of the Asia Department;

Li Hua, Head of the Translation Center;

Liu Feng, Deputy Head of the Consular Department;

Hu Liwen, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

The guests were accompanied by Xie Siqi, Consul and Attaché of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan.

Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs,, and Olga Vershinina, Director of the International Office, welcomed the delegation.

As is the tradition, the guests were given a tour of the History Museum of Kazan University.

At the meeting, Dr Alishev spoke about KFU’s key objectives and priority areas, as well as presented the structural and infrastructural units of the university.

During the discussion, the Vice-Rector paid special attention to the issue of bilateral relations between Russia and China. In education and science, Kazan University cooperates with China within the framework of implemented joint programs, research, and academic mobility, he said. Today, KFU closely cooperates with such universities as China University of Petroleum, Guangzhou University of Science and Technology, Beijing Pedagogical University, Sichuan University, and others.

Chinese language and culture are widely studied at KFU, including thanks to such entities as Sinology Center, Confucius Institute, and BRICS Research Center. HAIER-KFU Training Center works on the premises of Naberezhnye Chelny Institute.

This week, Dr Alishev is visiting China, and he is scheduled to arrive to Hubei and meet with Central China Normal University leadership on 12 April.

“This visit of the Hubei Province leadership to KFU, my visit to Wuhan are a good start for the contacts we are likely to establish with the universities of this province. Today it is actively developing and is one of the largest provinces in China,” the Vice-Rector commented.

KFU currently has over 2,000 Chinese students.
