The 2023 International Summer School on Smart Cities opens at BUCEA

On the morning of July 3, 2023, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) held the opening ceremony for the 2023 International Summer School on Smart Cities.

This summer school is jointly organized by BUCEA, the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), and the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium. It is co-organized by China’s University-Enterprise Alliance for Excellent Engineer Education in Civil Engineering in Construction Field. The event has invited ten scholars from seven countries, including China, Australia, Italy, Spain, the United States, Nepal, and Syria, to give lectures. In total, 100 students and eight teachers from 11 universities and research institutions of five countries, including China, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and Nepal, are participating in the summer school.

At the opening ceremony, Vice President LI Junqi gave a welcome speech.

Professor JIANG Jie, Secretary General of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers.

The President of the ISPRS Student Consortium, gave a speech, wishing the summer school a complete success.

Professor Sisi Zlatanova of the University of New South Wales, Australia, spoke as a teacher representative at the opening ceremony.

Ms. Elena Adekova, the head teacher of the student delegation from Tyumen Industrial University, Russia, delivered a speech as the representative of the teachers.

YANG Tianyue, a graduate student from our School of Geomatics and Urban Spatial Informatics, spoke on behalf of all the students.

This summer school has offered 11 presentations on the topics of Smart Cities, 5 site visits on architecture and landscape design, as well as a variety of social activities.
